HUMANS OF BOUCHERIE

STUDENT RUN, STUDENT LED & STUDENT INITIATED

Humans of Boucherie documents the stories of students  at Mount Boucherie Secondary School and is recognized for the sense of community and empathy that it has created across the campus.

Students of Mount Boucherie Secondary started an initiative called “Humans of Boucherie” where they interview their school students and make portrait stories about them on the school’s instagram account. There is no selection criteria to be featured, because they believe that everyone has something to say. The aim is to connect the students with the school and make them feel included.

Goals

We want to be a professional learning community that

  • Believes in a collaborative approach to learning;
  • Engages all learners;
  • Allows for a diverse range of programs and instructional strategies;
  • Recognizes and celebrates student success and achievement in all areas; and
  • Supports a positive and safe school culture.

Reflective questions after watching the video

  • What kind of student initiatives do you have going on in your school?
  • How can you support more student engagement in building a more inclusive community?
  • What could you learn from the Humans of Boucherie project?
