Developing Inclusive School Communities

Taking next steps

Schools are vibrant communities where pupils & students, teachers, school leaders & other staff members, parents & guardians, and other professionals in the wider community of the school come together to support learning and development of all pupils and students.

To strengthen inclusive communities within your school a four stage process is needed:

The first step is to identify a vision, define the starting point and formulate an ambition.

The next step is to prepare bringing the ambition to reality by making a plan.

The third step is about taking action and integrate new elements in the school.

Finally, after reflecting on the results that have been reached, it is important to think about how to sustain, optimize and scale up the changes that have been made.

These steps are elaborated on the next pages.
