Reflective tool

You can use this tool to identify strengths, good practices, and areas for development in your school community. Reflecting the current and desired situation can help you to set goals for development towards a more inclusive school community.

Celebration & ambition

To make plans for strengthening inclusive school communities, it is important to recognize and celebrate what is already there, as well as to identify what could be a possible and realistic next step.

The purpose of the tool is self-reflection and discussion, not evaluation. It is also good to note that some statements may be interpreted in different ways in your school – that’s ok and an important starting point for discussion.

The reflective tool consists of six themes, covering the three levels:

  • Classroom level (Social environment);
  • School level (Vision, Collaboration, Professional Learning);
  • Parents and local partners level (Working with families, Working with partners).

For each level you are first  invited to reflect individually on the current state of your school and the desired state for the near future. Next, individual reflections are brought together by a shared dialogue on present strengths and on ambitions and steps to make.
