LUUA FORESTRY SCHOOL

COMMUNITY SCHOOL

Luua Forestry School is a vocational school and the only school in Estonia that focuses on forestry. Luua Forestry School has nearly 9000 hectares of forest under management. Luua's mission is to support future forestry professionals with the best skills and knowledge through a learner-centred approach and an attitude that values nature. The school's vision is to be the first choice for learners in forestry and a centre of excellence in the forestry profession, committed to driving innovation. They actively engage in global partnerships and initiatives to promote responsible forest management and environmental sustainability.

Goals

According to the director, the teachers have generally responded well to innovations and new ideas, and the team is generally outgoing, as was the case with the implementation of the professional learning communities and the mentoring strand. In the school, vision and purpose are co-created and the values and vision for the school come from the whole team. Teachers have become more consciously involved in school development in recent years, and one teacher pointed out that she now has a better understanding of her responsibilities in the big picture and feels that the school works as a cohesive team.
